Whipping boy
“Synek do bicia” is another outcome of my artistic exploration. Its small, doll-like form was intended to loosely resemble a voodoo doll and to evoke the idea of transferring aggressive impulses onto an object.
The protagonist of this work is my son, alongside the beginnings of my difficult experience of motherhood. While creating this object, I wanted to have a kind of “device” onto which I could redirect frustration instead of directing it toward my own child.
However, the anecdote connected to this work is a painful one. My entire website, with this piece as a central work, was later used against me in court, where I appeared as a witness in a case concerning the deprivation of parental rights of the former partner of a friend. Her lawyer presented this work to undermine my credibility and question my ability to speak on any subject related to children.
It was a very difficult experience.
