PRIESTOR NA VÝDAJ
In February, visitors to the Polish Institute will find in the gallery a group exhibition of textile art objects by young Polish artists: Julia Kowalska, Katarzyna Nowakowska, Ksenia Czereszko, Karolina Lizurej, Alicja Kukier, Kacper Tomaszewski, Paulina Buźniak, Marta Nadolle, and Anna Bandyra. The curator of the exhibition is Karolina Lizurej, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and recipient of numerous awards.
The starting point of the exhibition is a personal, intimate space understood in diverse and individual ways, while the works reflect an extraordinary sensitivity in expressing the artists’ own experiences and reflections.
Who among us hasn’t heard the saying “time heals all wounds”? This cliché, repeatedly offered in the most critical moments of life, often becomes the only point of support and a source of belief that things will indeed improve, that problems will fade, and that we will feel better.
While reflecting on this mechanism, I came to see that it resembles processes of change in nature. A burned forest, felled trees, or an animal that has died among the grass eventually becomes just another element of the landscape. Gradually, what once evoked negative emotions disappears—the forest regenerates, trees grow back, the animal decomposes, and its remains are covered by new vegetation.
To illustrate this process, I used my own silhouette in a triptych. The red areas represent my troubles, dilemmas, and the harm I have experienced. Over time, the red gives way to green, until it almost completely disappears, leaving a calm surface reminiscent of moss.
Knowing that the red will eventually fade, I surrender myself to the passage of time.

Kuratorka wystawy jest Karolina Lizurej, absolwentka Warszawskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych i laureatka licznych nagród.
Punktem wyjścia wystawy jest osobista, bliska przestrzeń rozumiana różnorodnie i indywidualnie, natomiast prace odzwierciedlają niezwykłą wrażliwość wyrażania własnych doświadczeń i refleksji autorów.
